Bio
Hadi is a Ph.D. Candidate in Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, with a background in Chemical Engineering. His previous research focused on applying membrane separation processes for industrial wastewater treatment. Currently, he is developing novel and environmentally friendly materials for the degradation of toxic contaminants in oil sand process water (OSPW) through solar-driven advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). Hadi has won numerous prestigious awards, including the Jacob H. Masliyah Graduate Award in Oil Sands Engineering (2022 and 2023), the G. Gerald J. Maier/NOVA Chemicals Corporation Award, and the University of Alberta Graduate Recruitment Scholarship, among others. Passionate about improving water quality and environmental equity, Hadi joined IWA-YWP Canada as a volunteer in March 2022 and is currently serving as chair.
