FES Winter 2025 Outreach Wrapped
Posted onFuture Energy Systems didn’t spend this winter hibernating! From January 1 to the end of March 2025, we delivered 61 classroom programs to over 1,730 students from 26 unique schools. That’s an average of over 5 visits per week!
“Become an Earth Doctor” was our most popular school program with 14 bookings. In this program, students learn about healing the Earth through land reclamation. There's also an associated "Become an Earth Doctor" video on the FES YouTube channel, which was part of our Energy at Home series. With 10 bookings, our second most popular program was “Exploring Electricity”, where students explore different electricity generation methods and how they are connected to climate change. March also featured our first test sessions for a new coding-focused classroom program, which will be available for booking in fall 2026.
Outside the classroom, we visited 4 libraries (from Alberta to Ontario!), 2 science centres, and 3 teacher conventions. We also hosted a teacher professional development session, our first senior’s talk and our first science story time (experiments included!)—both at Edmonton's Muttart Conservatory. We posted 13 new videos online to our YouTube channel, reaching over 300 viewers in total.
In the last few days of March, our new Energy Explorers visited TELUS World of Science - Edmonton, sharing their new demonstrations with topics ranging from the effects of climate change on Mexican fishing communities to creating hydrogen gas with everyday materials.
All in all, we brought energy education to over 4,600 members of the public. Enjoy the spring weather—we’ll see you in April for brand-new energy adventures!
