FES Fall Outreach Wrapped
Posted onOur outreach and engagement team had a busy fall season in 2024, delivering 68 educational programs to over 2,300 students across 27 unique schools. That’s an average of over 5 visits per week from the start of the school year to the beginning of the holiday break!
“Exploring Electricity: Where it’s from and Why” was our most popular school program with 20 bookings. In this program, students explore where their electricity comes from and how it is connected to climate change. With 15 bookings, our second most popular program was “Become an Earth Doctor”, where students learn about healing the Earth through land reclamation. In third place with 8 bookings was our newest program, Science Storytime, where FES scientists read relevant story books in elementary classrooms.
Outside the classroom, we inspired over 5,300 high school students, teachers, alumni, and members of the general public with hands-on demonstrations at the TELUS World of Science - Edmonton, academic talks at Edmonton Public Library, and tours of the University of Alberta Campus.
Since our inception in 2017, FES has reached over 116,000 people through a variety of outreach and engagement initiatives, in addition to countless people on social media and through our YouTube channel. We can’t wait to bring science education to even more folks in 2025.
Winter and spring, here we come!
