On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the newest group of Energy Explorers greeted the 1,614 guests who braved a wintery blizzard to visit the TELUS World of Science - Edmonton. The Explorers honed their recently acquired science communication skills as they shared interactive demos with families, providing fun introductions to key concepts about energy systems.
Future Energy Systems launched the Energy Explorers communications training program in the fall of 2022. The program supports master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral students who are working on FES-funded projects, helping them build skills to talk about their research in non-academic settings.
Each researcher spends 20 hours learning about effective communication, and designing and constructing interactive, child-friendly demonstrations. Take a look at the demonstrations created by this latest class of Energy Explorers below!
